Mercedes C112

After the disappointment of the C111 never making it past the prototype stage, Mercedes-Benz built another supercar in 1991. Coming off the back of multiple sportscar successes in collaboration with Sauber, driven by future F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, Mercedes decided to make a road-going version. The C112 featured an all-new 408 PS V12, which would form the basis of the Pagani Zonda’s V12. The concept had active suspension and aerodynamics, features that were unheard of for road cars in the early 90s. Despite receiving 700 orders, Mercedes decided against building the C112, although it would build a similar model, the SLS AMG, about 20 years later.
